Cooperation with the Customs Administration to be improved

The Chamber of Economy of Montenegro organized a meeting with the management of the Customs Administration in order to enhance cooperation between these two institutions. On this occasion, the president of the CEM Vlastimir Golubović and the director of the Customs Administration Vladan Joković and their associates discussed open issues.

It was emphasized that the business entities dealing with the foreign trade, logistics and representation before the customs authorities recognized the Customs Administration as one of the most important state institutions. According to them, the Customs Administration has improved its operation in the recent years, in terms of transparency, efficiency, risk analysis systems, post-control despite some opened issues.

The interlocutors also discussed the possibility of signing a memorandum of cooperation, which would define opportunities to exchange information on foreign trade, joint educational activities etc. A system of communication between the Customs Administration and the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro needs to be established in order to solve problems which require immediate response of the customs authority.

The focus was also on the possibility to establish information center in the Customs Administration for the business community, which is one of the obligations under the Trade Facilitation Agreement.

The two institutions will continue the cooperation in order to improve the business environment, especially in coordination with the Freight Forwarders Association Board.
