22/01/2018

The regulations governing the energy efficiency labeling and eco-design requirements for products affecting energy consumption – light bulbs, cooling and air conditioning appliances were presented to the entrepreneurs at the workshop organized by the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro and the Ministry of Economy.

The event was organized under the auspices of the Regional Energy Efficiency Program (REEP plus), which was supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Representatives of the Administration for Inspection Affairs, an international consulting company E Co, specialized in the renewable energy market in developing countries, Danish and GIZ experts and representatives of the business community dealing with the technical appliances took part in the workshop.

Head of the Chamber’s Education Department Ph.D. Mladen Perazić says that this business association has been involved in the process of introducing requirements for labeling of energy efficiency appliances and eco-design of energy-using products.

General Director of the Directorate for Energy Efficiency in the Ministry of Economy Marko Radulović clarifies that our country, as a member of the Energy Community and as an EU candidate, needs to implement eco-design regulations.

The business community was interested in whether a manufacturer determines the energy class of a product or an authorized institution/laboratory has been equipped for this purpose.

- You declare the products by yourselves, but you need to know to bear the responsibility for this. Business entities are responsible for marketing conforming products – it was answered.

Also the participants discussed the regulations on the individual product groups from the perspective of energy efficiency design and eco-design.
