Forum with the Korfez business community

The Chamber of Economy of Montenegro and the Korfez Chamber of Commerce signed the Cooperation Agreement during the Business Forum.

The agreement is a good basis for more intensive economic relations with Turkey, noted the signatories, the CEM Vice President Ivan Saveljić and President of the Korfez Chamber of Commerce Recep Öztürk.

In 2018 Montenegro and Turkey exchanged goods worth EUR 100.7 million. The trends are positive because the foreign trade in the first six months of 2019 amounted to EUR 87.6 million, which is 58.7 percent more compared to the same period last year. In addition to trade cooperation, there is an increase in investments from Turkey. Since 2010, Turkey invested EUR 190.3 million, most of which in the last year - 53.1 million.

- I hope this forum will contribute to higher investment growth. Opportunities for cooperation can be found in the construction industry, tourism, agriculture, energy, transport and banking- concluded Saveljić.

Expressing satisfaction with the visit to Montenegro, President of the Korfez Chamber of Commerce Recep Öztürk pointed to the developed historical and cultural ties between the two countries based on sound foundations.

- We should use good inter-state cooperation in order to further strengthen the business collaboration. Korfez is one of the most industrially developed regions with 160,000 inhabitants. By 1950 the population was mainly engaged in agriculture, but the development of the industry lead to the opening of an oil refinery. Montenegro is similar to Korfez and we want to contribute to its development - said Öztürk.

The plenary session was followed by business meetings.
