Meeting with the Croatian Ambassador

The Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia MA Veselko Grubisic visited the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro. On that occasion he had a meeting with the President Mr. Velimir Mijuskovic and discussed the opportunities for the improvement of high-quality cooperation between two countries, their economies and the chambers.

During the meeting, the interlocutors emphasized the need to intensify the implementation of two strategic regional projects – Adriatic-Ionian motorway and Trans Adriatic Pipeline, which would provide significant contribution to developing closer relations in the region and its economic development.

The Ambassador has said that these are the projects whose significance exceeds the Western Balkans. According to him, the construction of motorway will provide contribution to the region as a unique tourist destination as well as to the extension of the season. He thinks that gasification is necessary in this area especially for the purpose of development of spa tourism, but he also emphasized benefits which our country would have from gas transit.

The President of the CEM Mr. Mijuskovic says that these projects are becoming priorities through the implementation of the Berlin process and will be discussed at the forthcoming Western Balkans Summit in Trst.

The regional cooperation has also been intensified through integration processes, the interlocutors agreed. Croatia remains the partner to Montenegro on its path to NATO and the EU and it wants to share experiences in these fields with other countries of the Balkans as well.

The high-quality cooperation between the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro and Croatian Chamber of Economy and the counties’ chambers of commerce contributes to strengthening relations between the Croatian and Montenegrin economies. Mijuskovic has reminded that the cooperation between the chambers was established when the relations in the region had been disrupted and it has provided a significant contribution to establishing economic ties in this area and, inter alia, signing the CEFTA.

Theses business associations have also cooperated through the Western Balkans Chamber Investment Forum. Cooperation among chambers is expected to be intensified in the forthcoming period, and it has been announced that two chambers will work on the organization of the business forum between Montenegrin and Croatian businessmen.
