Ambassador of Laos visits the Chamber

H.E. Phoukhao Phommavongsa, newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Montenegro visited the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro. On that occasion he met with the representatives of the CEM in order to consider the possibilities for more intensive business cooperation between two countries. 

The Ambassador Phommavongsa presented economic and investment potentials of Laos to Vice President of the CEM Mr. Stanko Zlokovic.

- First of all, we need to sign intergovernmental agreements on investor protection, avoidance of double taxation as well as visa abolition agreement. Laos and Montenegro have considerable hydropower potential, especially for contraction of small and medium sized hydropower plants. Therefore, it is possible to establish cooperation and exchange experience in this area, the Ambassador has said.   

Mr. Phommavongs believes that Montenegrin wines could be distributed from Laos to neighboring countries - Thailand, Myanmar, China, Vietnam and Cambodia. The possibility of selling organic coffee and tea from Laos in the Montenegrin market, especially during the tourist season is initiated as well.

The Vice President presented the activities of the CEM as well as the current economic situation in Montenegro. He pointed out the importance of construction of the highway Smokovac - Matesevo for further economic development. Mr. Zlokovic has said that he will inform Montenegrin businessmen about the possibilities for cooperation, particularly Plantaže "13. jul "as well as importers and distributors of coffee and tea.
