Bangladesh Ambassador visits the Chamber

Vice President of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro (CEM) Mr. Stanko Zlokovic and newly appointed Ambassador of People’s Republic of Bangladesh Mr. Hassan Mahmood Khandker discussed the opportunities for development of economic cooperation between two countries.

The interlocutors have stated that foreign trade between two countries is at a relatively low level and agreed that distance between two countries is one of key reasons for underdeveloped economic relations.

Vice President Mr. Zlokovic presented the current trends of Montenegrin economy, emphasizing opportunities for cooperation with Bangladesh in tourism, agriculture and energy industry. He has informed the Ambassador that the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro organized the Business Forum with Bangladesh in 2015 when the CEM and Global Economic Forum (GEF) signed the Cooperation Agreement. The GEF is non-governmental institution which acquired the status of development and policy consultant in the field of economy by the United Nations Economic and Social Council and it has been operating in 104 countries worldwide.

Speaking about the CEM activities, Vice President has said that in order to establish cooperation it is necessary to share information, provide assistance in finding appropriate business partners and organize visits of economic delegations.

Ambassador Mr. Khandker has pointed out that Bangladesh records stable and significant economic growth. He believes that two countries may establish cooperation in textile industry, since Bangladesh is one of the largest world exporters of articles of apparel and footwear, as well as in ICT sector and pharmaceutical industry.
