Canadian Ambassador visits the CEM

The President of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro (CEM) Mr. Velimir Mijuskovic hosted the Canadian Ambassador H.E. Philip Pinnington. The visit was organized on the occasion of the seminar at the CEM – Opportunities of IT Start-up networking for young people in Montenegro, which was supported by the Embassy of Canada.

The interlocutors also discussed the current economic cooperation between two countries and opportunities for its promotion. They agreed that foreign trade is not large, due to the market distance as well. As a good example of cooperation, the President Mijuskovic has singled out Porto Montenegro, which every year receives new content and has a multiplicative effect on Montenegrin economy, while at the same time it promotes Montenegro as a tourist destination. The Ambassador says that Porto Montenegro and infrastructure projects in Tivat are good and successful investment, and there is interest in cooperation in the field of renewable energy and hydropower, as well as for investment in the biotechnology sector.

The President informed the Ambassador about the history, role, way of functioning and activities of the CEM which contribute to creating a favorable economic environment for business. He has also mentioned the openness to cooperation and the possibility to recommend to investors what our economy needs. He has commented on a number of projects which we carry out or are being realized in cooperation with European chambers, as well as international chamber associations. Mr. Mijuskovic proposes organizing the business forum, which would contribute to concrete economic cooperation between the two countries through bilateral meetings of Montenegrin and Canadian businessmen.
