Standards, why do we need them?

Coordination Board for Quality of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro (CEM) in cooperation with the EU Info Centre organized a debate: “Why do we need standards?”

Potential of the management quality system was discussed by professor emeritus Milan J. Perovic. He points out that standards represent a referent level for harmonization, connection, integration and new approach of management at all levels.

Speaking of voluntary certification, MA Danilo Radoman, who is also QMS manager in the Port of Bar, says that standards cover a wide range of operations of any organization, offer the best world practice, a mechanism for continuous improvement, efficient and effective operations. Mr. Radoman presented the CEM Advisory Body for quality issues, established to provide entrepreneurs with basic information on standardization, implementation of standards and certification, emphasizing that its services are free of charge.

MA Biljana Knezevic, director of Department for quality at "13. jul Plantaze" spoke on the importance of certification in this company’s operation.
